Truck Driver Arraigned in Crash that Shut Down Old Bass River Road Overpass

The driver of the tractor trailer that struck the Old Bass River Road overpass on Route 6 last December 6th was arraigned today in Orleans District Court.   The crash left a Brewster woman injured after bridge debris struck the car in which she was riding.  

Defendant Jose Fernandes (DOB 9/9/78) is charged with Negligent Operation, Operating with a Suspended License and also faces a civil charge of Oversize Motor vehicle.

Fernandes was released on personal recognizance.    His next court date is February 21, 2020.

The crash caused critical damage to the support structure of the bridge.  The overpass remains closed at least until spring.
