Orleans, MA - The new Express Mart convenience store at Hilltop Plaza in Orleans is thriving.

It's about to get busier still as their Mass Lottery system went live on Tuesday.  Keno arrives next week, complete with a "Keno Bar" and "Keno Lounge" where players can enjoy coffee while watching their Keno games play out.

Vijay Patel, Express Mart's proprietor, is delighted by the welcome his business received in town.  "Almost everyone who visits the store has something nice to say, shares a story about the old Tedeschi's and simply welcomes us to town," he reports.

Mr. Patel also owns the Town Crier motel in North Eastham.  His children attend the Nauset Regional School District.  Mrs. Patel is managing the motel while Vijay works the new Express Mart.  Vijay has been hard at work in the store since they took occupancy in October, assembling all the brand new fixtures, painting and upgrading the store, which had grown a little shabby in its final months as a Tedeschi's/7-11.

Express Mart already feels very much part of the community.  The "regulars" are starting to emerge and nearly everyone during our recent visits stopped to talk with store staff.  The store, which opened last month, is still in "soft opening" mode but it is already taking on the feel of an old-style general store.  It's a warm, welcoming store and the staff are eager to assist.

The store opens at 6 a.m. daily.  On these dark winter mornings, the well-lit store is a shining beacon on Route 6A.

The new store is still offering free coffee to welcome townspeople.  Overall product selection is growing nearly every day.  Last week hot sandwiches came online with the addition of a commercial microwave and the addition of frozen sandwiches to the store's growing sandwich selection.  Express Mart sells Hood milk and Hostess breads along with cigarettes, snack items, general groceries, ice cream and more.

Take a moment to Express Mart, enjoy a free cup of coffee and get to know the pleasant, famliy-owned business.
