Osterville Village Library - Presenting “The Boston Irish” Saturday march 7 at 1pm.  Author Anthony Sammarco will deliver an illustrated lecture detailing the Irish wave of immigration that ultimately defined Boston neighborhoods. Learn how 19th and 20th century Irish immigrants contributed to the fabric of the city’s business community, government and religion. Anthony Sammarco is a noted historian and author of over 70 books on the history of Boston. From Mayor Curley to the Kennedys to the “streets of Southie” Anthony Sammarco provides a front row seat  to a community’s history and lineage. The illustrated lecture will also feature vintage photographs, some of which have seldom been seen. Reserve space now for this event, it is expected to reach capacity far in advance of the date. Osterville Village Library – Peace Corps Presentation, Sunday, March 8 at 11am. Commitment, satisfaction, even romance. In the 1960’s a global view first came to the fore with creation of the Peace Corps. 60 years later the experience continues with new recruits joining the ranks every day. Don’t miss this stunning presentation at the Osterville Village Library led by Leigh Marie Dannhauser, author of “Nothing Works, But Everything Works Out.” Learn about Leigh Marie’s 2 years spent in Cameroon, West Africa, working as an agriculture volunteer for the Peace Corps. Her work in Baleveng, a village of 15 thousand people changed her. Find out how, and why in what truly is an inspiring story.The lecture and photo presentation will also feature a book signing. Osterville Village Library - “Independent Publishing:  A Workshop,” Thursday, march 12 at 2pm. Are you a writer? Perhaps you’ve always wanted to be one? Getting it down on paper is step number one. From page to publication is step number two. Learn how to self-publish courtesy this free workshop at the Osterville Village Library led by Sharon Anderson of the Cape Cod Writers Studio. Learn about the process itself, which is not quite as difficult as most would think. Learn about current trends in the self-publishing industry to help guide you in your work.
