Power Out In Bourne

Severe Thunderstorm Blacks Out B City...

A strong thunderstorm rolled across Buzzards Bay and slammed into Bourne today, leaving heavy damage and power outages in her wake.

Thousands lost power as the storm downed power lines. It also put a lightning strike onto a Bourne residence, which caught fire.

The power outage was centered around the rotary area down to Monument Beach, with the State Police and the nearby hotels sitting in darkness at one point. There are still hundreds without power at 1 AM. Bourne has 2% out, Plymouth, Falmouth, Sandwich and Barnstable less so.

The storm was born by a cold front slicing into the latent humidity. It ended up being a 5 hour storm, and violent lightning struck all over the B.

Tomorrow should be lovely, mid-70s and not as humid.
