The Weather Outside Is Frightful

S Word Happening In Bourne

While most of Cape Cod gets rain, look what's happening in Sagamore, which is where the rain line set up. April 16th is pretty late for New England snow, and amazingly late for Cape Cod snow. Yet, here it is.

This should be over by the time you finish your morning blunt, but it is winter's last gasp. We had a bad winter as far as snow goes, and we really shouldn't have expected Mother Nature to tap out after that March blizzard.

The Sagamore Coffee Club, meeting at my kitchen table today, is only 4 adults, and our oldest is 45. The latest any of us has seen snow in Massachusetts was April 28th, but that was in 1987 Worcester. The rest of us sort of have the April Fool's Blizzard 15 years ago in our minds as a cutoff point. Now, it's 7 AM, April 16th.

In the Year Without A Summer, Barnstable had a frost on June 6th.  Boston's latest recorded snowfall is May 10th, 1977. I have no idea what Cape Cod's record is,

Be careful on the roads, as you'll go from what looks like thunderstorms on Cape Cod to snowfall in Sagamore.
