HYCC Week of May 27 - June 2

A sure sign that summer is almost here: beach parking permits ("beach stickers") are on sale in the Main Lobby at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center!  Permits are required year-round for each vehicle that parks at both resident and public municipal beach lots.  The beaches will be fully staffed beginning June 23, 2018.  

REMINDER:  the HYCC will be closed on Monday, May 28th in recognition of the Memorial Day Holiday, but beach stickers will be available for sale from 9:00 AM to Noon in the Main Lobby.  For more information abot the required documentation needed and to download a form that you can bring with you, please visit this page.

Summer program registration is available for all residents and non-residents.  There are a few programs that are now full but there are so many more to choose from! There are still some spots available for kids in grades 1-5 at the Barnstable High School site (with free breakfast and lunch) and at the Barnstable United Elementary School site for the 2018 Summer Leisure Program which runs July 2– August 17 Monday - Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM.  The program fee is only $850 for Barnstable Residents and kids enjoy weekly field trips and supervised fun with their peers!  Other programs include swim lessons, sailing, science, youth police academy, baking, street hockey, yoga, skating lessons, gymnastics, dance and more!  You can look at the brochure and register online anytime or in person at the HYCC during business hours Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM.  If you have questions or need assistance please call us at 508-790-6345.  For those with returning school-age children, please be sure and review your household account and verify the information is correct, particularly with regard to your children's grade in school as this often affects your ability to register the children in age appropriate programs.  If there are changes that need to be made, you must contact our office at 508-790-6345 before registering for certain programs.

The popular High School Summer Sports Leagues at the HYCC are again shaping into form with some exciting teams that will represent every corner of the Cape and beyond!  Athletes will compete in boys and girls basketball and hockey leagues as well girls volleyball in various divisions broken down into age groups and skill levels.  If you have a team you would like to submit, or if you are an individual player that would like to be added to a team roster, please visit this HYCC web page for more information about who to contact; or you can always call us at 508-790-6345.  Admission to the games is free and spectators are always welcome!  Play-offs and Championship games at the end of the summer are always exciting!

There are plenty of activities with drop-in family fun that everyone can enjoy, both indoors and out!  At the HYCC, there are public skating sessions nearly every day, along with specialized times for figure skaters and hockey players to practice their skills.  Open gym time and a three-lane walking track, a game room and computer lab can be accessed with an annual HYCC Membership or a $5 Day Pass, available from any staff member. Check out the weekly schedule for all the indoor fun here or to plan ahead, visit the website calendar and click on the date you'll be in Hyannis.  Outside, there is a playground, the Barnstable Skate Park, which is open and staffed Tuesday-Sunday (closed Mondays and rainy days), as well as basketball courts next to the new "Little Fenway" baseball complex.  For information about details and availability to rent any town-owned fields, buildings and recreational sites, please visit this page.
