The Barnstable Youth Commission's Youth Job Fair is being held today at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center, 141 Bassett Lane, Hyannis MA between 2:30 - 5:00 PM.  Admission is FREE. 

Young people from all over Cape Cod between the ages of 14-18 are encouraged to stop by and visit with employers who are ready to hire eager young workers.  There will be opportunities for them to ask questions about how to get a work permit, practice interviewing and getting familiar with the process of getting their first job.

Skate For Love!  All week long, help us stock up the local food pantries and you could win free skating for a year! For every non-perishable food item donated, you will get a chance to win the drawing which will be held after the public skating session on Saturday, February 24th.  More information here.

Feb 11-17 This Week at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center

The Barnstable High School Girls Hockey team continues their outstanding season this week with Senior Night slated to take place on Valentine's Day, Wednesday, February 14th.  The puck drops at 5:10 PM as they take on Latin Academy in their last home game of the regular season.  Come cheer them on and wish them well in the post-season!  Check all the upcoming high school hockey and basketball schedules on your school's web site.

Starting Friday and throughout school vacation week, Skate For Love - for every non-perishable food item you bring in to help our local food pantries, you will receive a chance to win a year of free ice skating! Join us at the HYCC during public skating sessions over school vacation week (February 16th through February 24th) and drop off a non-perishable food item at the Skate Rental Room for your chance to win FREE PUBLIC SKATING FOR A YEAR!!!  Donations will be accepted at the HYCC Skate Rental when the building is open throughout the week, you do not have to attend a public skating session to be a part of this great event.  All items collected will be distributed to local food pantries on Cape Cod.  We will draw a winning ticket on Friday, February 24th right after the public skating session ends at 4:00PM.  Get more information here.

The Hyannis Youth & Community Center is proud to offer public activities for the whole family!  We offer both drop-in programs as well as seasonal 6-8 week lessons and activities which folks can sign up for at the front office.  All are welcome and we aim to provide affordable fun and a well-rounded schedule of programs for all ages.  Check out this week's scheduled drop-in activities here.

Barnstable Recreation's Spring Program brochure is now available!  There are lots of old favorites combined with a few new offerings, including kids' after school and weekend activities, adult programs and family events to keep everyone occupied as we await the warmer months!  Registration begins February 27th for Barnstable Residents and March 6th for Non-Residents. The Hyannis Youth & Community Center offers annual memberships that are just $20 for Barnstable residents ($40 for non-residents).  Members have acccess to the indoor walking track, scheduled open gym and game room times as well as three complimentary passes for skating and open gym so you can bring a friend to try it out!  Day passes are just $5. Ask about our family discounts for households of five or more!  It's easy to sign up online or download an application and bring it in.  Here is an application form!

The cost for ice skating activities is separate, and also affordable.  Admission for Adults is $7, Students $5 and Seniors $2.  Skate rentals are just $5 and skate sharpening is available for $6/pair.  Come and check out the state-of-the-art ice rinks and great food at the Scudder Family Cafe operated by the Casual Gourmet!

There is still time to sign up for the Family Road Trip to the UCONN vs. Temple Women’s NCAA Div. Barnstable Recreation: Div 1 NCAA Women's Basketball Family Road Trip

The Barnstable Recreation Division is pleased to offer this great field trip to see the UCONN Huskies Women's Basketball team play Temple on Sunday, February 18, 2018. The cost will be $50.00/person (includes coach bus & ticket). This is a great opportunity to see former Barnstable Recreation basketball participant, MOLLY BENT, perform during her Sophomore year. It will also be great to see BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME COACH, GENO AURIEMMA. His UCONN teams have won 11 National Championships and have had six perfect seasons. He has also led Team USA to gold medals in 2012 and 2016. Barnstable Recreation will provide chaperones for 4th-7th Grade recreation basketball participants if an adult cannot attend the game. Kindergarten-3rd Grade basketball participants and the general public MUST be accompanied by an adult. You are welcome to pack snacks and drinks for the bus ride. Please bring money for lunch, snacks, and/or souvenirs available for puchase at the game. We will meet at the HYCC, 141 Bassett Lane, Hyannis at 10:00AM. Bus will depart at 10:30AM. Game will start at 2:00PM. Bus will return to the HYCC at approximately 7:30PM. SPACE IS LIMITED so don't hesitate to sign up! We expect this trip to be SOLD OUT!

Hyannis Youth & Community Center - Jan 14-20

Please be reminded, on Monday, January 15th Barnstable Recreation and all Town business offices will be closed in recognition of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday but the HYCC will be open for business!  Come and join us for drop-in indoor fun in the Game Room, Gymnasium and Rink for scheduled activities; or you may want to come and watch a high school hockey or basketball game!  Check your school’s web site or the back of the attached schedule for game times!

Due to requests by several citizens, on Thursday, January 18th from 9:30 – 1:30 AM the Town of Barnstable Public Health Division will hold another flu clinic which is open to all Town residents. The fee is $3.00.  Consent forms will be available on-site or at the Public Health Division Office at 200 Main Street, Hyannis; and at the Senior Center on 825 Barnstable Road (Rte. 28), Hyannis.  For more information, call the Town of Barnstable Public Health Division at 508-862-4644.

The Hyannis Youth & Community Center offers affordable fun for all! Lots of high school basketball and hockey games will take place during the week of January 7-13 as well as all the usually scheduled drop-in programs like public skating, open gym, yoga, playgroup and more.  Annual memberships are available; just ask one of our friendly staff members or sign up online.

Hyannis Youth & Community Center - December 31-January 6

There is so much to do and see at the HYCC!  School vacation week has been a blast and the fun continues all weekend long and into next week!  Click here for the schedule of all the public activties taking place.

Tomorrow (12/30) the annual BHS Boys and Girls Hockey Alumni Games take place in the rinks at 7:00 PM and 7:40 PM, respectively.  If you are interested, bring your gear; and register to play right at the table in the Lobby!  The games begin at 7:00PM so please arrive early!


Lots of high school hockey and basketball action will be taking place each day next week along with the regularly scheduled drop-in programs.  Please join us to watch a game or participate in the many different activities offered for those of all ages!
