The Hyannis Youth & Community Center offers affordable fun for all! Lots of high school basketball and hockey games will take place during the week of January 7-13 as well as all the usually scheduled drop-in programs like public skating, open gym, yoga, playgroup and more. Tomorrow (12/30) the annual BHS Boys and Girls Hockey Alumni Games take place in the rinks at 7:00 PM and 7:40 PM, respectively. If you are interested, bring your gear; and register to play right at the table in the Lobby! The games begin at 7:00PM so please arrive early!

This weekend, the Bourne Skating Club hosts the Cape Cod Classic Synchronized Skating Competition that starts today and uses the entire facility through Sunday at 2:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door and you can get more information at www.bourneskatingclub.com. Please note: the Game Room and Gymnasium will be closed to accommodate the space needs for the event and will open later in the day on Sunday, December 10th.
High school basketball and hockey season is underway with games and practices taking place each day for Sturgis East and West (basketball), St. John Paul II (basketball and hockey) as well as hockey teams representing Barnstable, a combined Mashpee and Monomoy team (The Monarchs) as well as the Eastern Junior Hockey League Seahawks team!

As we enter into the Holiday Season, the Hyannis Youth & Community Center ("HYCC") is a center of activity for the whole community, with skating lessons, after school programs and the Lyndon P. Lorusso Youth Center bustling with activity for all ages! Come and walk on the indoor track, drop in and play basketball,volleyball, pickleball, relax in the Game Room or get some work done in the Computer Lab! HYCC Annual Memberships are affordable, just $20 for Barnstable Residents and $40 for Non-Residents; guests can join in the fun for just $5/day! Memberships are available online or stop by and pick up an application today! Anyone who signs up or renews their membership will be eligible to win a prize in our monthly drawing, plus in your Member Handbook, you will receive coupons for free public skating and one free day pass to share with a friend! The building will be closed on Thursday, November 23, 2017 for the Thanksgiving Holiday and the Cape Cod Waves Girls Cranberry Classic Hockey Tournament will be in the building Friday through Sunday! Open Gym and Public Skating times are scheduled while the kids are out of school and during the weekend. High school hockey try-outs begin next week for Barnstable, Saint John Paul II Mashpee High Schools who all use the ice surfaces for their practices and home games! Additionally, the high school basketball season gets underway in the Gymnasium with Sturgis East and West Charter as well as Saint John Paul II boys and girls teams sharing the space for their practices and games.
On Saturday, December 2nd starting at noon the participants in our Learn to Skate program will present their 6th Annual Holiday Show featuring programs by skaters from tot level to adult, showing off the skills they have learned throughout the Falll session! Admission is FREE, but donations are accepted and will be used to cover the cost of costumes and props. The Annual HYCC Giving Tree to benefit Cape Cod Children's Place is in the lobby and we are accepting donations of gently used coats and mittens, along with new hats during the Holiday Season.
Winter Program Registration is ongoing and space is still available in many of the after-school activities, learn-to-skate, weekend fun, a family bus trip in February to a UCONN women's basketball game and so much more! This week is a short school week so there will be plenty of Open Gym and public skating times, along with All Ages Hockey Stick Practice! On Sunday, come watch as the Seahawks Jr. Hockey team hosts the NH Avalanche for an afternoon game. The puck drops at 3:00 PM. All Ages Open Gym and Stick Practice are offered next week, as well as Game Room fun and the Walking Track is available for members and day pass holders. The building will be closed on Thursday, for the Thanksgiving Holiday. On Friday, both ice surfaces and the Gymnasium will be bustling with lots of action as the annual Cape Cod Waves Cranberry Classic Girls Hockey Tournament gets under way! The event runs through Sunday and organizers expect to host over 70 teams playing in multiple divisions, U8/10 - U19 on both ice surfaces. Admission is free for spectators and the Scudder Family Cafe operated by The Casual Gourmet will be open! Come by and watch some great hockey!
Registration for Winter Programs has begun for Barnstable Residents; non-residents can begin registering on Wednesday, November 22. There are two ways to register: in person at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center located at 141 Bassett Lane, Hyannis Mon-Fri 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM or at your convenience on-line from the web site. There are still spaces available in the Learn to Skate program, Gr. 6/7 After School program; Half-Day of Play, basketball and more! Hurry! The spots are filling up fast!
The Barnstable Skate Park will be closing for the Winter soon! The last day of the 2017 season is Sunday, November 19th. It has been a great season and we look forward to opening again in April.
