It is amazing how narcissistic Religion has become. Forget the meek.
There are wars, famines, killing, starvation, storms, disasters going on all over the world.
And God, who can do away with all this spends His time helping people win football games, find parking spaces, choose the right lottery numbers, and deciding one potential victim of a plane crash or other such disaster is worth sparing while another isn't.
And people are always thanking God for sparing them, boasting how blessed they are while some other poor schmuck is left to wonder what it was about themselves that displeased the deity so their loved one died, they had to park blocks away, or their football team lost the big game.
Reality is that a lot of things that happen are because of the free willed actions of humans and are not the results of a micro-managing God.
And it always annoys me when people have convinced themselves that they are so important, they have a direct line to the almighty who ignores the important things and favors them in all matters no matter how trivial.
I would like to suggest that instead of using their close connection to God to get little minor selfish things, since they are apparently so important to Him, they might ask that wars, child starvation, poverty, disease, and the mistreatment of people by others be addressed.
Just a thought.
