Bittersweet in Marstons Mills

Every Fall, this magnificent great blue heron nestles onto the same branch amongst the bittersweet and fall foliage at the mill pond at the corner of Rt 28 and 149 in Marstons Mills.

The heron seems to be paying respect to the former owner of the property behind the pond, Kevin Galvin.

Kevin was bitten by a bat in his home and died of rabies encephalitis January, 2009.

The last recorded human case of rabies contracted in the state was in 1935.
