Well I have another beef to grind out this week, this time it is our grocery stores and markets all over the Cape. The big thing today is they all want to send us their electronic fliers and coupons, they want us to sign up for their latest program, but try to get a signal inside any of these stores. It is a travesty in today's day and age of electronics that we can not go to the store, and get our attached shopping lists and coupons that they want us to use at their locations all because they are too lazy and too cheap to boost their wi-fi throughout the store. I think I can honestly say that if I found a store with a strong signal from front to back and side to side, they may just become my store of choice. And before someone says I need a new carrier, give that argument up as I know for a fact that it ain't (sorry grammar teachers) a carrier issue. We have had 2 of our own carriers both major names and neither worked. We have talked to other folks with different carriers and the same kind of phone and they all have the same problem. So listen up markets, grocery stores, shops of any kind that do electronic advertising of any sort, get with the program and get the Wi-Fi thing going so we can maximize the use of your electronic fliers and coupons or, we will find someone else that can and will and will go there. I's sorry but in this age, shame on you for your lack of customer service in this area. Here's to looking for that first store to really do their job. Happy shopping everyone.
Business report this week goes out to, Liv A Little, they are just off the Cape but their they have an outstanding and unique product, combining nachos and chocolate. Yes you read that correctly. You can check them out at www.LiveaLittleNachos.com
of at food tastings around and about. We ran into this company at Ring Brothers valentine tasting outing, where just about everything from liquor to beer, to ice cream to nachos had chocolate in it. What a treat to try so many wonderful things that I would not normally branch out on my own without trying first. I would not have thought to combine Nachos with Chocolate but let me tell you, the salty spicy of the nachos with the sweet chocolaty goodness,, well what can I say, this is something you just have to try. they have gift baskets and family packs that will be a treat for all. Give these folks a try. As usual Cape Cod Creamery was there dishing up there wonderful ice cream as well. What can we say about ice cream any time of the year. Remember Cape Cod Creamery's Hyannis location in the Christmas Tree Plaza is open year round. They serve up soup and sandwiches and dish up those wonderful tasty ice cream treats. Check out their web site for hours and you don't have deprive yourself of good desserts just because it is the off season. Yum all the way.
Well the time has come to bid you a fair well for this trip. I need to get to my rounds before the night is through. You know the new routine by now, make sure the door to the tower is secured and locked, but unblocked and the path is well cleared. I need to check of the extra doors and shutters to be sure they are well secured. Then around the grounds to be sure all has been picked up and put away and that the equipment is safe in their storage bends. And last of all make a check on the dory and be sure she is well tethered and ready at a moments notice if needed. Well folks, you have a great evening and may your trip be restful and enjoyable. We are so glad you came to visit us this time of year and hope to see you back real soon.
Sticking with the Bunt theme for this year, the even numbered months will be more along the breakfast cakes than the evening after dinner cakes. However I find that breakfast coffee cakes tend to get nibbled on more threw out the day then any other kind of cake. I don't know why but it just does. So this can either be halved and done in a 9x9x2 or you can do the full recipe and enjoy in the bunt pan. Either way the topping is the same either way, no changes there. So get your stuff together and the night before put this bad boy together and the next morning you can slice it up, pop it in the microwave a couple seconds and enjoy a much healthier morning snack than any pre-made cake thing. Ok even if it is not, it will be tastier cause you made it and we know freshness always wins out. Now on with the show.
This week's recipe: Cinnamon Walnut Coffee Bunt Cake

- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup milk

- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon

- 1 cup walnuts chopped
Combine oil, eggs, and milk. Sift together dry ingredients; add to milk mixture. Mix well. Spray bunt pan with non-stick spray and pour mixture into pan. Sprinkle with Spiced topping. Bake at 375 degrees about 25 minutes, (do the tooth pick test, poke it in and if it comes out clean it's done.)
