More Preparation & 2-4-1 Bikini Cocktails Inbox

This week work has been the dominant theme and time has been at a premium. My apologies for not being as prepared as I should. So just touch on a hot subject at this time of year, vacation planning. I hope you have already procured a place to stay, if not, do so by the end of April or you might be doing only a day trip instead of a weeks stay. Second, get out a map, I would suggest get a real map, first you kids need to know how to read one. If you can do it without a cell phone then when in those areas of the country that have dead spots they will still be able to navigate about. First find where you are staying and star it, then drawl several circles out and around where you are staying. From there find the towns within those circle, now go to the web and search that town and area for historic sites, shopping, restaurants, trails, and nature paths and what beaches are available and what are the costs so you are prepared. Decide how far you want to drive to see things and what can you do, to and from that town. You might laugh at this, but assure you that it will save you much time and grumbling, it will give the kids something to look forward to and if you ask for their help will help in making it a more enjoyable time for you the parents. If you are on a budget this is one of the biggest things that most fail to do and end up in deep dollar do-do and then the next 4-6 if not more months digging out from it spoils your wonderful time away. So be wise, be mindful, and plan, plan, plan, and plan to have fun, fun, fun with both sunny day events and back up rainy day events, cause believe it or not it does rain here on the Cape. So let's get started and get planning and until then have a great and wonderful and if you are already here or get to come early especially if you can do it right here on old Cape Cod.

Update on Robin's Toffee by the Sea will be opening in their new location on White Path's in in South Yarmouth on April 10th just in time for Easter goodies. She also has more than toffee, with gifts and items for all kinds of events. So get on over on 4-10 and let's support her, Find her on Facebook for directions, she is right across the street from the Sea Dog Pub & Restaurant.
A big thanks to Cape Cod Cranberry Harvest Inc (aka the jelly and jam people - YUMM Stuff) for getting it posted for us all on their facebook site. When you are out and about remember to stop by and see what they have to spread all over those wonderful english muffins, toast, crumpets, and even for some of us cottage cheese, and more. They have a wonderful product and are great supporters of other local Cape businesses.
Time for more restaurant news, the much acclaimed Ocean House Restaurant on Old Wharf Road in Dennis Port is opening April 4th. They have won or have been recognized by so many national groups it's not funny. check out their web page or facebook page and go make a visit to confirm just how good they really are.
Hello friends, and all I can say right now is I hope you are enjoying our day to day changing weather. Our lady's beacon has been working overtime with all the fog that comes with those changing winds, and with the last dashes of winter trying hold on she has had some hard working days and nights. But I think we are getting closer and closer to the end of this battle and better times are soon to come. With the winds we have had to do some property clean up as some limbs have blown down and all around the grounds. But I am most grateful that the docks and boats are not out yet as there probably would have been some damage. So that is always good news. We are pretty much all planned out for Easter and the big hunt, It is all weather permitting as we do not want our little ones sick from being out in any nasty weather. As you know I do not do it until after 12 noon so that all that wish to attend Easter Services can do so and not miss any of our functions. Well I am waiting on the dates for boat inspections to be announced, so any of you who have had your boats in storage, whether in the yard or in a marine storage lot, start looking to get that bobber a go over. Be sure all your PFDs are in good shape, replace any old, worn and tattered ones, these can same lives. Next make sure you have a working fire extinguisher on board, need I say more on that. Be sure your lights are all working, you would be surprised with how many do not check these and come down to have the inspections done and one or more lights don't work. And no, promising you wont go out after dark will make us look the other way. Seriously folks what are you thinking of. If you have any questions go to the Coast Guard website and see what is all required and just follow it to the tea. Well there is not much more going on right now, so I will just say have a great and wonderful all day, everyday, especially if you can do it right here on old Cape Cod, and hope to see you soon.
Now I told you at the beginning of the year that my theme for cocktails were all different kinds of bikinis. Some get a little more racy or skimpy then others. For some of you this may not be for you. Others, well, step on up to the bar and order yourself one. But remember cocktails are to be enjoyed and have fun with, please be a smart consumer and an even smarter host. Now if you enjoy happy cocktails let's get pouring and get this party going. Oh and by the way I am giving you the original then an original by me (at least I have not found and actual recipe that does what I have done. So give it a try and see what you think.       I normally don't use brand names but these spirits have their roots in or on Cape Cod, so why not go all out. There are other brands from here on the Cape so use whatever you enjoy the most.
