New Bedford Girls Win South Tournament

Barnstable, Falmouth voted off the island... Duxbury splits, Plymouth South in finals

New Bedford 47, Mansfield 46

Big ups to the Lady Whalers, who moked out Mansfield to win the Division 1 South title!

Alissa Roach, Arille Gomes, and Allexia Barros were all over the Hornets, who hit a halfcourt shot at the buzzer to make it a bit closer.

Beddy plays Andover Monday at the Boston Gahhhhden for the EMass title.

Marshfield 3, Barnstable 2

Chris Perry got a hat trick for Marsh Vegas, and the last goal was the back-breaker, double-pump rump-shaker. Barnstable made a fight of it, but Vegas was just too much for the Barn kids. Finals info below.

Springfield Cathedral 5, Duxbury 0

Well, if they had to drive across the state and everything, at least Springfield got to whoop up on some rich coastal dwellers. They got Duxbury under control early, and Duxbury never threatened. We always had trouble with city kids when I was at Duxbury, and the problem continues today.... except with football and lacrosse, where we pwn suckas like constantly.

Marshfield will face Springfield Cathedral in the South Boys Final. The game is Sunday, 4:45 PM, at Gallo Arena in Bourne.

Plymouth South 3, Coyle-Cassidy 2

Fresh off asserting hockey primacy in America's hometown after surpassing Plymouth North, Plymouth South then done went and kicked the ass of both Coyle and Cassidy.

Plymouth South (who I believe are the Eagles, although I have long felt that North and South should be the Pilgrims and the Natives) plays Franklin for the South title. The game is Sunday, at 2:15 PM or so, at Gallo Arena in Bourne.

Pembroke 5, Medfield 1

A) I just today figured out that Pembroke's teams are known as the Titans.

B) Whenever someone says "Medfield," I immediately think of Peter McNeeley yelling it before Mike Tyson mauled him.

Pembroke, led by Matt Sheehan and Kyle Jacobs, plays Westwood in the South Final Sunday.  Westfield got by Scituate in OT, 3-2. Game time is 7:15 PM, at Gallo.

Duxbury 7, Canton 0

Girls hockey loved Duxbury more, as they got all up in Canton's grill and administered a seven-goal-savaging that left little doubt as to which town produces the better women.

Brianne Connolly tallied a hat trick for the Lady Green Dragons, while goalie Rachel Myette repeatedly stoned the Canton girls like some Fat Bud.

The next rung on the ladder for Duxbury is Concord-Carlisle. Sunday, 12 PM, at Gallo Arena in Bourne. Winner gets the winner of Norwood/Fontbonne.

King Phillip 59, Falmouth 49

KP was just too much for the Falmouth boys hoopers, who were left via a double digit loss.

Philly plays Hopkinton for the South title. 8 PM tonight, UMass-Boston.
