Cape League Finals Set

Wareham vs. Yarmouth-Dennis For All The Mahhhhhbles...

We have the Cape Cod Baseball League finals all set up, and it's Wareham vs Yarmouth-Dennis!

Wareham advanced to the finals following an epic 8-6 win over Bourne. I was at this game, and it was hardcore. Granted, I'm a Bourne kid, but a good game is a good game regardless of who wins.... I learned that going 0-16 as a high school basketball coach one year.

I showed up at 9, as I am known to do. Wareham was up a run, but Bourne rallied to take the lead. Wareham took the lead back, but Bourne tied it in the 8th. Wareham snatched the lead back in the 9th, and Bourne failed to rally.

It was the best time I have ever had at any baseball game that didn't involve myself getting laid after. The 8th was awesome. Wareham was trying to hold a lead, and they got a series of questionable calls from the ump. Bourne banged in a pair of runs, and everyone on the Wareham side got all angry and stuff. The manager and pitcher both looked like they were about to start laying hands on people.

However, a man who is actually named Mott Hyde hit a clutch two run homer in the 9th to win it for Wareham. I also didn't win the 50/50 raffle for the 10th game in a row, but other than that, it was a great time. The game went until 11:30 PM, so there will be some tiiiiiiiiiiiired kids this morning.

Unlike how I am with the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry, I have no problem rooting for Wareham after they dispatched my team. It's like the interview I read with a Kentuckian as the Civil War approached... "If the USA splits, I'll fight for the Union. If the Union splits, I'll fight for Kentucky. If Kentucky splits, I'll fight for Bullit County. If Bullit County splits, I'll fight for my side of the street."

Yarmouth-Dennis swept Orleans, but I wasn't a drunken sot at that game, so no details are forthcoming. Wareham and Y-D square off in a best of three series starting today at 4 PM. The game is on Y-D's home field. Here's the directions.
