Arthur L. Pike of Provincetown died peacefully at his home July 7, 2015, surrounded by family. He is survived by his partner of 33 years, Frank S.G. Wills.
Born in Bridgeport CT, Arthur graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Arthur taught Electrical Engineering at MIT and then later at Tufts University. While at Tufts, he was the recipient of the prestigious Liebner Award, given annually to a faculty member who demonstrates ‘Excellence in Teaching and Counselling’. Arthur was a member of the Outer Cape Chorale and on the Board of Trustees at the Provincetown Library. Arthur served in the US Navy and was stationed in Guam, as an Electronic Technician’s mate, at the end of WW II.
Arthur was predeceased by his wife Jane Rosenthal Pike. After Jane's death, Arthur met Frank and they became committed and beloved partners for 33 years, living in Cambridge and Provincetown. They were parents to eight children between them.
In addition to his partner, Arthur is survived by his sister Fannie Guion of Keene NH, his daughter, Sarah Robson of Tewksbury, her husband, David Robson, and their children, Derek Robson of Billerica, and Christina Robson of New York City; also by his daughter Katherine Pike of Lexington, her husband Stephen Kaye, and their children, Max and Emily Kaye.
Arthur was a long term parishioner at Christ Church, Cambridge and at St. Mary of the Harbor in Provincetown. Arthur will be greatly missed by all he has touched in his accomplished life.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of St. Mary of the Harbor in Provincetown at a time and date to be announced.
