Peter Baptiste Antone, better known as “Poppi”, 75, of West Dennis and Georgia, died on Saturday, July 11, 2015. He was born in Hyannis the son of the late John and Hazel (Rasario) Antone. He was raised and educated in Hyannis. After high school, he joined the US Marines in Quantico, VA. He was honorably discharged in 1962 after serving during the Vietnam conflict. He went on to work for the US Postal Service in New York City and later returned to Cape Cod.
Peter enjoyed fishing, reading James Patterson novels, cooking, and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves his daughter, Attica Meade of Concord, NC; his grandchildren, Fletcher Antone and Jayson Moyston of Fayetteville NC, Duwan Meade and Demetrius Meade of Concord, NC; his great-granddaughter, McKenzie Antone of Fayetteville, NC; his sister, Josephine Lee of California; his brother, Jimmy Magnett of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind extended family in Centerville. He was predeceased by his daughter, Africa Antone; his brothers, John Antone, Jr. and Terry Magnett; and his late wife, Joanne (Nowlin) Antone.
Visiting hours will be held from 10-11:30 on Friday, July 17 at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, FALMOUTH CENTER. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne.
