Our Blustery, Snowy Sandbar
Photo Essay by John Fitts
Anybody who has been on the Cape in the last few weeks can surely attest to the fact that that whole global warming thing is a bunch of malarky! Whether you are reading the actual temperature or that "feels like" temperature--it is darn cold. Although true fashion suicide, I'm even considering a hat. Maybe even one of those Elmer Fudd deals with the ear flaps. Actually, do they even sell those around here?
Regardless of the temperature drop, Cape Codders are a hardy sort. Blustery winds and a few inches of snow are easily countered with a hot toddie and a steaming bowl of clam chowder. After the prerequisite griping and grumbling about shoveling and cancelled plans, I think most people still find snow quite magical. A few weeks ago I and several other adults in a parking lot in Yarmouth Port gazed up into the evening sky and exclaimed, "wow, it's snowing" as if we were witnessing it for the first time.
So your car is cruddy, your newspaper is nowhere to be seen and you need to find a sitter for your kids because the wimpy school cancelled classes. Although it's hardly a beach day, you have to admit--it sure is pretty outside.
