Two New Notable Exhibits at the Edward Gorey House

Two Edward Gorey exhibits scheduled for the 2006 season

The always interesting Edward Gorey House will be opening for the season on April 15th, 2006.  This year brings two wonderful Gorey exhibits:

PBS "MYSTERY" EXHIBIT
The Edward Gorey House honors the work of Academy Award-winning animator, producer, director, and writer Derek Lamb (1936-2005), who brought life to the artwork of Edward Gorey in the opening and closing credits for it's classic PBS series "MYSTERY". When viewing one of Lamb's animated films, Gorey gave it his highest accolade, "It's so sinister." The exhibit includes award winning Claudia Edmonds "MYSTERY" themed quilt, as well as original Gorey artwork used in the preparation for Derek's animation. The exhibit launches April 15th and runs through June 18th. 

"EDWARD GOREY'S DRACULA" EXHIBIT
"He's Back!" The Edward Gorey House opens it's exhibition of "Edward Gorey's Dracula" the Tony Award winning hit that ran for three years on Broadway. The Edward Gorey House exhibit will include Gorey's original set and costume designs, rare production photographs and memorabilia. The exhibit opens on June 22nd and runs through late December.

About the museum: The Edward Gorey House celebrates and preserves the life and works of Edward Gorey, an American author, illustrator, playwright, set and costume designer. In honor of his legacy, The House, owned and lived in by Gorey himself, displays his diverse and extraordinary talents and reflects his distinct personality. About Edward Gorey: A truly prodigious and original artist, Edward St. John Gorey (1925-2000), gave to the world over one hundred works, including The Gashlycrumb Tinies, The Doubtful Guest and The Wuggly Ump; prize-winning set and costume designs for innumerable theater productions from Cape Cod to Broadway; a remarkable number of illustrations in publications such as The New Yorker and The New York Times, and in books by a wide array of authors from Charles Dickens to Edward Lear, Samuel Beckett, John Updike, Virginia Woolf, H.G.
