Nancy Pettibone to offer Art Classes for Youth at Cape Cod Conservatory-West Barnstable
Summer Classes to Begin July 7
WEST BARNSTABLE -- The Cape Cod Conservatory announced today that Nancy Pettibone is rejoining its faculty to offer a wide range of children’s art courses. Her initial classes will span the Conservatory’s Summer Session beginning July 7 and continuing until mid-August. A full range of courses will continue to be offered throughout the school year.
“I’m delighted to be back at the Conservatory,” said Ms. Pettibone. “There’s a Renaissance going on there – a great renewal of energy and ideas – and I’m very excited to be a part of it. And the space at the Conservatory is just the best; and I look forward to working with the kids to make full use of it!”
Ms. Pettibone has been teaching art on the Cape for nearly fifteen years – including at the Conservatory from 1998 to 2003 -- and is well known and loved for her imaginative approach to art. Some of her popular classes include Family Art (for parent or other caretaker with child), Summer by the Sea (exploring the wonders of the Cape through art), Sketch a Story (narration through art), Art Club for Ages 3-4, A Look at Modern Artists for ages 12 and up, Creative Painting Techniques for Ages 5-8 and Ages 9-12 and weekly Mini-Workshops including the self-describing Splatter Paint, Painting Big and Collage Creations courses.
“She’s a superb and hugely popular educator,” said Jeff Myers, Executive Director for the Conservatory. “Her classes help kids develop not only their talent but their self confidence.”
Ms. Pettibone added: “I love to teach Art with a really big ‘A’ – helping kids to explore and grow their creativity in many directions. And that’s what I love about the Conservatory. It serves kids’ interests in art as well as music, dance and theater.”
Ms. Pettibone graduated summa cum laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts in Painting. She received her Early Childhood Education Certificate from Cape Cod Community College and is also certified preschool lead teacher. A working artist as well as an art teacher, she brings her enthusiasm for art to her classroom, creating a warm, positive and creative atmosphere for young artists of all ages.
