"HIGH Art in Low Places!" Issues Open Call for Entries to Artists
"HIGH art in low places!" Issues Open Call for Entries to Artists
Whimsical Summer Show on Cape Cod -- August 6 thru August 10 -- Promises "Unexpected Art in Unexpected Places"
The Village of Osterville Destined to Become the "Village of Oh!" Exciting art deserves a large easel and some bright light! And summertime in a moody domestic economy deserves some fun.
How about an entire Cape Cod village for the easel and the Cape Cod summer sunshine for the light? As for the fun:
One of the most whimsical showings of fine art in recent years will take place this summer on the streets of tony Osterville, Massachusetts -- a romantic, seaside resort village facing Nantucket Sound that epitomizes the quaint image of bucolic Cape Cod. HIGH art in low places! is a summer show that will bring the artist’s masterpieces from the museum, gallery and studio to the open streets of this picture postcard village - and to its sidewalks, alleys, driveways and other unexpected places.
Think chalk art on the walkway - and three dimensional installations on the lawn. Think sculptures of amusement and surprise in the alley, on the rooftop and on the floor -- canvases hanging from the trees -- all original creations that consider a singular time and place for a show of “ohs” and “ahs”!
HIGH art in low places! - billed as a display of unexpected art in unexpected places - has issued a “Call for Entries” to all artists for unique proposals for this summer art display. A juried show of the most unusual works that answer the call - the exhibit will open on Wednesday, August 6th during Osterville’s celebration of its weekly “Wednesdays on Wianno” -- a summer evening extravaganza of musical concerts, late night shopping, entertainment, art gallery openings and fine dining and desserts all along the village’s two principal historic thoroughfares: Wianno Avenue and Main Street.
HIGH art in low places! will last five days -- plenty of time for thousands to see, to taste and to buy!
Osterville is legendary as one of the “best kept secrets on Cape Cod.” The playground of heads-of state, corporate presidents and ceos, and home to some of the priciest waterfront real estate in the nation, it is tucked away amidst the gorgeous beaches and pristine bays of the Cape’s south shores and is a favorite launching ramp for yachtsmen and explorers of nature alike. In a hidden niche offering fabulous dining, exclusive retail shopping, fine art and fine antiques seasoned with breezes of the salt-soaked air, with this summer show the village of Osterville is destined to become the “village of Oh!”
To feature both renowned and emerging artists -- the masters and still undiscovered novices -- this show of HIGH art in low places! seeks the most creative minds and spirits -- all brave souls with the most unusual ideas.
