Cape Cod's two hospitals launch total joint center

Cynthia Marlin, MS-MHA, RN, ONC named director of new center

Cape Cod Healthcare is pleased to announce that its two hospitals, Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital, along with its other entities, have joined forces to forge a comprehensive, system-wide approach to orthopedic care. The Total Joint Center at Cape Cod Hospital and the Total Joint Center at Falmouth Hospital expand on the hospitals' tremendous track record of caring for orthopedic patients by offering patients more of a multi-disciplinary approach to orthopedic care and treatment that brings to bear the resources throughout the CCHC system.

The Total Joint Center at each hospital offers a team of highly-skilled surgeons, dedicated nurses, therapists and technicians working together on individualized Care Maps specifically designed to achieve the best outcome for all Total Joint Replacement patients, as well as other orthopedic patients.

"Our orthopedic programs have progressed to the point where we are able to offer our patients the most advanced care possible, right here on Cape Cod," said Michael Lauf, CCHC's President and Chief Executive Officer. "By bringing our resources together and creating a system-wide Total Joint Center, we believe our patients will be getting the best orthopedic care in the state."

Cynthia Marlin, MS-MHA, RN, ONC, has been named Director of the Total Joint Center at Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital. Cynthia has a strong clinical background, specifically in Orthopedics. She did most of her training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, specializing in Orthopedics, Neurology and Rheumatology.

"The Total Joint Center at Cape Cod Hospital and the Total Joint Center at Falmouth Hospital expand on the hospitals' excellent track record by offering orthopedic patients an integrated and standardized approach to care," said Cynthia. \Our Total Joint Center also includes expert post-hospital or post-acute care and treatment either in a rehabilitation facility or at home with the VNA of Cape Cod.\

CCHC recently announced that data supplied by The Delta Group - a leading national healthcare information services company - revealed that Cape Cod Hospital scored first in the state in the category of Overall Surgical Care, and second in the state - behind only New England Baptist Hospital - in the categories of Major Orthopedic Surgery and Joint Replacement.

Falmouth Hospital, meanwhile, was designated as a Blue Distinction® Center for Knee and Hip Replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts last year, for expert care and joint replacement outcomes. The new Total Joint Center expands upon this demonstrated expertise at both hospitals by bringing the operational, educational, financial and marketing expertise offered at both campuses into one unified, system-wide service line approach.

"Our patients now have access to the best available pre-operative, operative and post-operative information and care in orthopedics," Michael Lauf added. "You have everything you need to get back to your healthy lifestyle."
