Montessori Middle School to relocate for 2011-2012 school year
Montessori Middle School of Cape Cod, formally known as the Cape Cod Montessori School, is relocating for the 2011-2012 school year. The Montessori Middle school, serving grades seven and eight, is relocating to the school house building at the East Sandwich Friends’ Meeting House on Spring Hill Road in Sandwich. In keeping with Maria Montessori’s vision of a farm component to middle school education, the students have the opportunity to raise their own chickens and operate a greenhouse on the campus and classes will be held once a week at the Coonamessett Farm in East Falmouth, MA.
The Montessori Middle School of Cape Cod is a vibrant learning community where adolescents thrive from both a presonal and educational standpoint. The school offers adolescents a challenging academic experience combined with the opportunity to be an integral part of a community of students, teachers and families. Students directly apply their academics to real and relevant experiences, while learning the importance of integrity, respect and responsiblity. Classroom subjects come to life as students apply thier learning to topics such as agriculture, animal husbandry and microeconomics in a supportive setting. Whether writing a research paper, completing a hydroponic science project, caring for an alpaca or learning to build a greenhouse, stuents at Montessori Middle School of Cape Cod will gain the skills, the education and the confidence they need to succeed. As forseen by Maria Montessori, a sound academic program combined with experiential learning on a local farm setting allows middle school age children to learn and thrive. The Montessori curriculum takes the student’s discovery of local land and history and helps them apply an interconnectedness of ideas and events with a strong understanding of the physical universe, the world of nature, and the human experience.
The school is accepting enrollment for the 2011 – 2012 school year. More information can be found at: www.capecodmontessori.org or by calling 774-392-5186.
