The British Beer Company's 7th Polar Plunge will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2pm. Registration for this fun event begins at 1pm.  Participants will plunge into the ocean at Falmouth Heights to benefit the Falmouth Service Center Food Bank.

Jumping into the Ocean in New England during the month of March isn’t for everyone – but it’s damn sure fun to watch!  This will be the seventh year that fearless Cape Codders take to the freezing ocean on Falmouth Heights Beach across from the British Beer Company (BBC) for a good cause.   Participants will receive a t-shirt, and more importantly…recognition for their valor and bravery in these trying times of winter.  The BBC will set up a heated tent where plungers can warm up with a cup of Chowder before heading inside the BBC to see Ian Richardson perform a live acoustic set.

Registration for the Plunge is $20 and all proceeds will go to the Falmouth Service Center Food Bank.  The BBC is also encouraging plungers to help raise additional funds by going to their friends and family seeking additional donations.  The participant who raises the most pledges will receive a complimentary $100 gift certificate to the BBC.  Everyone, spectators included, are being encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for the pantry.

The BBC will be raffling off prizes all day long.  Generous sponsors include L. Knife and Sons (Bass, Guinness, Harp) and Heritage Print Solutions.  The Seaside Inn next to the BBC will be offering overnight stays at a rate of only $49.

Registration starts at 1pm and plunging begins at 2pm.  Please keep in mind - there are risks involved with this event.  Tips for plunging safely include wearing something on the feet to protect from the cold sand and sharp objects.  Find a plunge buddy and stay with them.  Bring a sweat suit, a comfy robe, a towel and anything else that will help bring a human’s core temperature back to normal.

The British Beer Company is at 263 Grand Avenue in Falmouth, 508-540-9600.
