Brewster Water Department to start Route 6A project Tuesday

Work will begin on Dennis end, heading east towards Orleans

A second project will begin on Route 6A in Brewster Tuesday. According to the Town of Brewster, a water service stub renewal project will begin on March 31. The work will begin near the Dennis town line and head east towards the Orleans town line. During the project, 158 homes will receive stub replacements.

The Town of Brewster Water Department will be working with their contractor JW Dubis & Sons, Inc. Work will be done between 7:30 a.m and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some work may be done on Saturdays, but no work will be done during the town's Brewster in Bloom Celebration.

Officers will be on scene to assist and direct motorists. Depending on the stage of the project, the roadway may be reduced to one lane of traffic Motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes and should expect delays during the project.

The water service stub renewal project is scheduled for completion prior to Memorial Day. This project and the gas line project (currently underway in the area of Nickerson State Park) must be completed before the state's Route 6A repaving project scheduled for this fall.

During the water project, the section of iron pipe from the main line to the curbside shut off valve will be replaced. The replacement of this pipe, installed between 1972 and 1976 is being paid for by the town.
