Provincetown seeks applicants for economic development committee

Five-member committee tasked with stimulating the town's year-round economy

The Town of Provincetown is seeking residents to serve on an Economic Development Committee. The committee will be made up of five regular members and one alternate member. Term expiration dates will be staggered.

Committee members will be tasked with encouraging initiatives that would stimulate the town's year-round economy. The committee would also be responsible for awarding funding for such initiatives.

The Economic Development Committee was created through a "yes" vote at the recent Town Meeting. In addition to the creation of the committee, residents voted to raise and appropriate $26,000, $1,000 for committee expenses and $25,000 in funding.

Appropriate ideas would increase year-round economic opportunities for Provincetown residents and would not "create adverse impacts on the character of the community" or the town's "natural environment". Funds would be awarded only with approval of the selectmen.

Applications are available through the Town Clerk's Office at Provincetown Town Hall.

Completed applications must be returned by Tuesday, May 19.
