Are you on the Mashpee DPW's 2015/2016 no plow list?

No snow will be cleared until some private roads are tended to

While Cape Cod temperatures are still teetering in the 80s, the Mashpee Department of Public Works is getting a jump on their plowing list. Last winter was a bear and according to the Farmers' Almanac, this coming winter will likely be a repeat.

Earlier this month, the DPW released a list of more than two hundred private roads that will not be sanded or plowed this winter if improvements are not made.

Issues include potholes, drainage disrepair and overhanging limbs and brush. Overhead limbs must be trimmed to a height of 12 feet above the surface of the road and brush should be cleared a minimum of 2 feet back along both sides of the road. Potholes and road "defects" exceeding two vertical inches must also be repaired.

If DPW can only gain access to your road via one of the roads on the do not plow list, your road will not be plowed, according to the notice.

Once necessary repairs are made, the DPW should be contacted at 508-539-1420 or [email protected] to schedule a re-inspection.
