The Town of Provincetown announced that the shellfish area will open on Sunday, November 1. The area is east of the west end breakwater (CCB4.3).
The taking of shellfish will be allowed on Sundays and Fridays from November 1 through the end of March 2016. There will be a ten-quart limit per week.
Permits, gauges and regulations are available through the Town Clerk's Office. Licenses for residents are $15 and $50 for non-residents. Resident taxpayers over 65 will receive a license at no charge.
As CCB4.3 is an area classified as "approved" by the state, shellfish or water quality testing will not impact the season.
If bay scallops are abundant, Shellfish Constable Steve Wisbauer will post taking dates and locations. A limit of two pecks per week will be in place.
