Town of Barnstable seeks residents to serve on committees and commissions

Seats are open on several committees including the newly formed Water Resource Advisory Committee

The Town of Barnstable is seeking residents to serve on several committees and commissions. Barnstable has over 40 boards, committees and commissions with a combined 291 seats. 

In all, 35 seats are currently available on 13 committees. All appointments are made by the Town Council.

  • Agricultural Commission (one member)
  • Board of Health (one alternate)
  • Cultural Council (three members)
  • Disability Commission (two members)
  • Historical Commission (one member)
  • Housing Committee (three members)
  • Human Services Committee (two representative members)
  • Hyannis Main Street Waterfront Historic Appeals Committee (two members)
  • Personnel Board (one member)
  • Planning Board (two members)
  • Water Quality Committee (four members)
  • Water Resource Advisory Committee (eleven members)
  • Zoning Board of Appeals (two members)

Those interested in serving must be residents and registered voters in the Town of Barnstable. Applications, available online here, must be completed and returned. Applications are reviewed by the appointments committee which is comprised of five town councilors. The committee will also interview applicants and make recommendations to the town council.
