"Inside Barnstable Town Government" sessions set to start in February

Eleven-week academy is now in its 23rd session

The Inside Barnstable Town Government - Citizens Leadership Academy is set to begin on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. This will be the 23rd session offered by the town. 

Classes will be held over the course of eleven weeks on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at a variety of locations. The academy is facilitated by Susan French.

Participants will learn about the operations and challenges of governing a town from Town of Barnstable staff. Classes include interactive experiences, group discussions and site tours, according to a release from the Town. There will also be a bus tour of the seven villages of Barnstable.

Topics include the history of the town and its government, police and fire services, schools and libraries, airport services, finance and more. 

Applications are available at the Town Manager's Office, 367 Main Street in Hyannis or online at the town's website. To obtain an application by mail or fax, call 508-862-4610. The class is free, but class size is limited. Participants are encouraged to register early to avoid the wait list.
