Ronald Adams Stark, 83 of Harwich passed away on Monday, February 15 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the loving husband of Virginia (Andrzejewski) Stark for nearly 47years.
Ronald was born April 4, 1932 to Rossiter & Mabel (Orton) Stark in Providence, RI. He graduated from Brown University in 1954 with a degree in Geology. He attended Brown under the U.S. Navy Holloway Program and he served in the U.S Navy from 1954-1958 achieving the rank of Lieutenant (JG).
In the 1950’s Ron was one of the first Scuba Divers for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Being on the ocean, spear fishing, skin diving and swimming remained among his favorite hobbies for years. He Worked for Norton Company in Worcester, Industrial Ceramics Division for 23 years. After his retirement he was a Refractories Consultant to the metallurgical industry for 27 years.
Ron was active in Hubbardston, MA town politics for many years serving on the Board of Health, as a Tax Assessor and also a Selectman. He and Virginia moved permanently to Harwich in 1995 where he enjoyed boating and fishing on Nantucket sound. He was an avid reader of US and European History. He was a man of many interests who loved current events, politics and traveling. Ron was a kind and loving husband and father-always generous with his time and attention. He became interested in the culinary arts and found great pleasure in preparing savory meals for his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Jeffrey Asher Stark and his wife Sharon of Sandwich and Daryl A. Means of Florida, a brother Robert H. Stark of Rhode Island and 2 grandsons.
Visiting hours will be held at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main St. Harwich Center on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 1-3 pm concluding with a service at 3 pm. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in East Harwich.
