Dorothy (Gaudette) Palumbo of Pocasset, formerly of Braintree and Quincy, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Palumbo.
Born in Hanson, she was the daughter of the late Claude I. and Ethel (Fuller) Gaudette. Dorothy worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Margaret’s Hospital and South Shore Hospital. She raised her family in Braintree. She summered in Pocasset since the early 1960s and in 1998 made Pocasset her full time residence.
She served as a past President of the Braintree Rotary Anns. She taught CCD at St. Clare’s Church and volunteered at the Pine Street Inn.
She enjoyed golf, tennis and painting. She was a sweet, loving and gracious women. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family of which she was very proud.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Kern and her husband John of Quincy, Annie Para and her husband Steve of Bourne, Dorothy and Jay Dembro, Joseph and Pamela Palumbo, and Robert and Karen Palumbo, all of Pocasset; and her grandchildren, Sara & Raffi Peterson, Jayne and Michael Crane, Jay Dembro, Jennifer Kern Rizzo and Sean Rizzo, Matthew Kern and Katherine Kern, Steven Para, Samantha Para, Jacquelyn and Robert McCurdy, Alexandra Palumbo, and Robert Palumbo and Isabella Palumbo. She was one of eight children and is survived by her sisters Adeline Harrington and Nancy Logiudice
Visiting hours will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy. (Route 28A), WEST FALMOUTH. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Road, Pocasset. Burial will follow at 11:30 in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.
