James J. Desmond III of Hyannis, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather, passed away on Monday March 7, 2016 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was 68.Jimmy was born in and spent most of his years in Hyannis. He was a loving husband to and is survived by his wife Judy (McDonald) Desmond; he is also survived by his stepson Adam Nash, daughter-in-law Erin (Moroz) Nash, and grandson Addison Nash of JBLM, WA; stepson Richard Nash of Southbridge, MA; beloved sister Nancy (Desmond) Cox and brother-in-law Edward Cox, nephews Dr. Matthew Cox and James Cox of Youngstown, OH; beloved sister Diane (Desmond) Bergquist and brother-in-law Robert Bergquist, nieces Amy Bergquist of Manchester, NH and Karen Bergquist of Bow, NH; brother Jeffery Desmond of Newport, Rhode Island; and sister Janet (Desmond) Braman of Yarmouth. Jim was predeceased by his father James J. Desmond II and his mother Marion A. (Milbury) Taylor.Jim graduated from Barnstable High School with the Class of 1966, and from East Coast Aero Technical School in 1968. He loved his work and many friends during many years with family businesses, including Mildred's Chowder House in Hyannis. Jim also was very fond of and had many long-time friends during his decades with regional airlines that include PBA, Bar Harbor Airways, Colgan Air, and Cape Air.As he courageously battled health issues the past few years, Jim was extremely grateful for the caring and great treatment of local professionals. Jim would want to thank them and his family extends gratitude to his medical providers, with special thanks to Dr. Mohammad Arshad, Dr. Daniel Canaday, and Dr. Paul Evans.Memorial visitation will be held at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis on Friday March 11 between 4-6pm, with a celebration of Jimmy's life at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, Jim's family requests that friends may choose to make a donation to the MSPCA, which was his favorite cause, or to a charity of one's choosing.
