Virginia Marie Markakis Luby of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly from Milford, MA and Mashpee, MA, passed away on April 1, 2016 at Brightwater Long Term Care, Myrtle Beach, SC. Virginia was 96 years young.
Mrs. Virginia Luby was born on December 26, 1919, in Milford, MA, to Greek immigrant parents, Eugenia Leonardos Markakis from Ad Portis, Argos, Greece, and George Markakis from Sparta, Greece.
Virginia was the wife of Gerard F. Luby who died October 11, 2004, at the age of 81. They were married on July 7, 1944, in Milford, MA. Virginia attended Milford High school and worked for Dennison MFG. Co. in Framingham, MA, as an electronic assembler for 24 years. Virginia loved to travel and became a member of the Dennison Travel Club. Virginia visited Greece, Italy, England, Marico, Spain, Portugal, and Hawaii. Virginia was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses: Theodore Markakis, Paul Markakis and his wife Irene Miller Markakis, Peter Markakis and his wife Santana Grillo Markakis, Shilla Markakis and his wife Regina Baker Moran Markakis, Vivian Markakis Martello and her husband John Martello, and Minnie Markakis Badavas and her husband Bill Badavas.
Virginia leaves her daughter, Kathleen E. Luby Dion and her spouse Joseph Basile of Myrtle Beach, SC, and her son Gerard F. Luby, Jr., and his wife Irene D. LaCasse Luby of North Falmouth, MA. Virgina also leaves her beloved dog Travis and her cat Lady Gray.
Visitation is from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM on April 7, 2016 at Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 91 Main Street, Falmouth, MA. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Falmouth, MA.
