Lorraine Ruth (Zeitler) Finkel, 91, of Centerville passed away peacefully with family by her side at Harbor Point on April 1st.Lorraine grew up in Mattapan, MA with her father Alec, mother Rose, and brothers Alec and Bernard. After high school, Lorraine graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School and became the office manager for her father's local food mart.It was then she met a handsome young man who lived in Provincetown; they hit it off and, soon after, Lorraine was visiting Cape Cod (via the train to Orleans) to visit the love of her life and future husband, William. Married in 1953, they had two sons, Michael and Howard. They left Provincetown in 1960, moving to Bill's childhood home of New Bedford. The family returned to the Cape in 1968 to open Capt'n Bill's Fish Market in Hyannis – a move that was ideal as Lorraine had always loved Cape Cod and its amazing beaches (and Four Sea's Ice Cream!).Lorraine was never one to sit idly by so, as their sons grew, she attained her real estate license and went to work for Jack Conway Realtors where she earned accolades as a premiere broker.During these years Lorraine was able to enjoy many of her passions – among them fashionable clothes, costume jewelry; and the family German Shepard, Gretchen.Lorraine also became proficient trading in the stock market where she really blossomed with a here-to-for unrealized talent. With the advent of home computers, her stock-trading abilities were expanded to the point where Bill and Lorraine could travel frequently.Bill and Lorraine's travels also allowed her to enjoy another pastime – gambling – a talent which rivaled her stock trades. In their later years, Bill and Lorraine became 'snowbirds' alternating between Centerville and Delray Beach where they enjoyed spending time with the Goldin's – Bernie, Elaine, John, Randi, Dianne, Peri, and Adam. When Lorraine's beloved 'Velvey' passed in 2011 she resided at Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth and then Harbor Point in Centerville where, after a very full life, she continued to enjoy a much deserved retirement.Lorraine is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, William (August, 2011) and is survived by her sons Michael and Howard, both of Mashpee; nephew Bernard (and Elaine) Goldin of Boynton Beach, FL; niece Marsha (and Ralph) Jacobs of Randolph, MA; and numerous cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces.The funeral service will be graveside on Tuesday, April 5th at 11am at the Ahavath Achim cemetery in Plainville. The family will sit Shiva on Wednesday, April 5th from 2pm to 7pm at Sea Oaks, 195 Falmouth Road, Unit 14C, in Mashpee. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the charity of one's choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home 160 W.
