Jane (Harding) Patterson of Chatham, MA passed away at Liberty Commons on Thursday, April 7th after a period of declining health. Born in Hyannis on January 18th, 1936 to Sumner and Jean Harding of West Chatham, Jane was a sister to Cynthia G. Harding of Chatham and the wife of the late James (Jim) Patterson. Jane is survived by her children: Judy, Jim (Jennifer) and Jeff (Megan) Patterson. She also leaves behind her treasured twin grandchildren – James and Ashley and her beloved cat Mr. White.Jane spent her first year of marriage in Nashville, Tennessee which inspired her life-long love of country music. She loved to knit and was a voracious reader. She joined a memoir group and proudly wrote and published a book about growing up in Chatham in the 40's and 50's – "That Harding Girl". She loved the beaches in Chatham and the Caribbean and loved traveling to see her grandchildren. She cherished her friends and visiting and chatting with them became the highlight of her later years. Jane worked for several years at the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank in Chatham and Watsons in Orleans. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Calling hours will be held at the Nickerson Funeral Home in Chatham on Monday, April 11th from 4 to 6 p.m.A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank those nurses and aides at Liberty Commons for the outstanding care they provided to Jane.
