Sabina Christina “Chris” Pecararo
Chris Pecararo passed away peacefully with the comfort and company of her family at the McCarthy Care Centeron April 18, 2016 from complications arising from a stroke four weeks earlier. She was 85 years old.
Chris was born in County Galway, Ireland, on December 3, 1930. She was youngest of ten daughters of Maria Clarke and Martin Duggan of Castle-Bellew. As a teenager, she left Ireland to pursue a life and career she loved in nursing. While working in the Boston area she met the love of her life, and husband of 63, years John F. Pecararo. Together they raised their family in Westwood, Massachusetts.
Chris always had a camera on her and would proudly share photos of times past and places she visited to her family. She was a devoted nurse at Norwood Hospital for over 30 years and also cared for patients at The Clark House Nursing Center in Westwood. She remained close with her nursing colleagues, enjoying their frequent holiday get-togethers over the years.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents and her nine sisters – Theresa Martin, Mary Duggan, Delia Broderick, Catherine Manion, Ellen “Nellie” Duggan, Bridget Broderick, Annie Staunton, Julia Warner and Nora Duncan, as well as her beloved mother-in-law, Stella Pecararo.
Chris is survived by her devoted husband John F. Pecararo and their six children and their families – son David M. Pecararo (wife Kelli), Allen K. Pecararo (wife Karen), daughter Susan Miskovsky, son Mark D. Pecararo, daughter Mary Ann Latter and son J. Stephen Pecararo (husband John Grall) and by nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and by many cousins and friends in the United States and in Ireland.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the kind and professional nurses and doctors who cared for Chris, especially the ICU team at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, and the staff at Falmouth Hospital and the McCarthy Center.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 23rd in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, 320 Winter Street, Norwood, MA.
