Business owners can take advantage of the opportunity to dispose of hazardous and toxic materials that can pose harm by contaminating groundwater, lakes, ponds and soil in the event of a hurricane or other emergency or inappropriate disposal. In 2016, they brought pesticides, solvents, oil-based and alkyd paints, paint thinners and strippers, and other products that can harm people or the environment.

The fee for disposal is based on the type of materials disposed of. Interested businesses can call Kalliope Egloff, who is the Extension Educator on Water Quality and Hazardous Materials for the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension/Barnstable County at 508-375-6699 for more information on how to participate.
