HYANNIS, MA - The Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works invites interested individuals to attend a public information meeting regarding planned improvements along portions of Sea Street and Ocean Avenue in Hyannis. The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in the Town Council Hearing Room at the Town Hall, 367 Main Street, Hyannis.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide residents an opportunity to review the proposed improvements prior to final design and to learn about the projected timeframe for construction.
This state-funded project is planned to extend from Main Street to the entrance of Keyes Memorial Beach on Ocean Avenue. The project objectives are to improve pedestrian and bicycle access and overall traffic safety, rehabilitate aging infrastructure, and enhance the streetscape. The project scope is anticipated to include a new shared use path and landscape buffer on the east side, a new sidewalk on the west side, new or resurfaced pavement with narrow lane widths, and improved drainage and lighting.
Construction is planned to start in the fall of 2018 and is anticipated to continue through 2019, with construction breaks between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and over the winter. The project limits, scope, and schedule are contingent on available funding and other factors.
