The man accused of killing Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon and shooting his K9 partner Nero entered a plea of Not Guilty to a murder charge today in Barnstable District Court. He is also charged with mistreating or interfering with a police dog.

Thomas Latanowich, age 29, will be held without bail.  His next court appearance is a probably cause hearing on June 26th.

Officer Gannon and K9 Nero were both shot while assisting in the serving of a warrant at 109 Blueberry Lane in Marstons Mills.  Officer Gannon died of his wounds.  Nero has undergone emergency surgery and is undergoing treatment.

The scene at the courthouse was a bit of a media circus with TV trucks and a swarm of reporters.  Raw video from the "perp walk" into the building was replete with shouted obscene remarks from bystanders.  Latanowich was removed from a Yarmouth police cruiser and surrounded by officers as he entered the building. welcomes thoughtful comments and the varied opinions of our readers.
