From the Wareham Police Department:

Wareham Police report that they arrested a Plymouth man and Boston fire district chief on Saturday, Sept. 1st, after he was accused of driving drunk and striking a car owned by an Onset firefighter during Illumination Night.

Mark Buchanan, age 60, is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Police were called to the parking lot of the Onset Fire Department for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver that had struck another car and was attempting to flee.

Wareham Special Officer Robert Feeney saw the car back into a parked car, owned by an Onset firefighter, and then try to pull out of the lot. Feeney reports that he yelled and waved for the driver to stop. However, the operator refused to stop, forcing Officer Feeney to move out of the way. Mr. Buchanan thens tooped his car where Officer Feeney had been standing.

Buchanan identified himself as a Boston fire district chief before his arrest.
