From the Wareham Fire Department:
Last night, 9/5/18, at approximately 7:20 pm, an off duty fire fighter called in over the radio a report of a motor vehicle accident in front of the Mill Pond Diner on Cranberry Highway . It was described as a rollover with people still trapped inside.
Wareham E1 with the duty crew & Wareham R1 were dispatched to the call. Upon arrival it was determined that there were at least two people stuck inside the over turned vehicle. Command requested the Onset heavy rescue to the scene.
Wareham EMS also responded with two of their ambulances and requested an additional ambulance to the scene from Marion. It was determined during the call that Med Flight was needed. They were instructed to respond to the Tobey Hospital landing zone for at least one of the patients. Wareham E4 was dispatched to the landing zone to standby for Med Flight to safely land.
While additional assets were en route, companies on scene were able to extricate the two occupants and Onset was diverted to Wareham Station-1 for manpower & coverage. Also, Chief Rowley (C1) & Assistant Chief Haskell (C2) were contacted & responded to the scene as well.
There were 3 patients in total. One was transported by ground to Rhode Island Hospital, one was transported to Tobey Hospital and was subsequently transported via Med Flight to a trauma center and the third patient was a documented refusal on scene.
The Wareham light tower was requested from the Wareham Police Department to assist with lighting while accident recon personnel went over the scene & Eversource repaired minor damages.
The investigation is still on going and patient status is not available at this time. Thank you to all departments who responded to this accident!
