From the Dennis Police Department:

Today the department was presented with a trophy for winning the "Battle of the Badges" blood drive competition. Summer is a slow time for blood collection, so we thought we'd team up with other police departments and Cape Cod Healthcare and promote blood donation. With the help of our community members, we are proud to say we eeked out a narrow victory.

Along with Truro PD, Wellfleet PD, Orleans PD, Chatham PD, Harwich PD, Brewster PD, and Barnstable PD, we were able to help CCH's Blood Donor Center collect much needed blood: There were 280 potential donors showed up to give blood, 200 were able to actually donate, and 119 folks were first-time donors.

Great news, it was a great cause, and we hope we can expand this competition next year! There will be a blood donation opportunity at the DPD next month with a Halloween-theme - should be fun! Hope to see you then, stay posted for details.
