South Yarmouth Student Makes Assumption College Field Hockey Team

Another local student makes us proud...

The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Summer Walsh, of South Yarmouth, has earned a spot on the 2018 Assumption College Field Hockey team. Walsh, Class of 2022, will compete during the Greyhounds' fall season.

The Hounds finished the 2017 season with a 12-9 overall record and 7-5 in conference play. Last season, Assumption claimed the final playoff spot as the sixth seed, before upsetting Pace in the quarterfinals and then taking down Stonehill on the road 1-0 in the NE10 Semifinals. The team's run came to an end in the title game as LIU Post edged the Hounds. It marked the second time in three years they reached the NE10 Championship.

"We are looking forward to a great 2018 season," said Head Coach Ann Lahey. "We have a talented incoming class joining the squad this year and am confident they will add to the experience of the returners. We are building on the success and culture of years past, and have set high expectations for this team, both on the field and in the classroom. The leadership from the senior class and captains will help us in achieving our goals."
