Never in my 90 year lifetime have I seen a president of the United States publicly abused by politicians and the media in the way Barack Obama has been. It is a disgraceful commentary on our nation's sense of decency.
It is partly the rudeness of the Tea Party rednecks and of course it is a manifestation of lingering widespread racial intolerance.
Time will put President Obama in high regard, up there with the Mt. Rushmore heroes. His much- maligned Affordable Care Act will outlive the Koch brothers and Karl Rove's distortions and be as essential to our way of life as Social Security and Medicare are now.
The Republican House under its do-nothing Speaker will become a comedic sidebar in future history books. 54 futile votes to repeal health care, and zero action to improve the economy, infrastructure, or comprehensive immigration reform! Those useless congressmen should return their paychecks to the treasury, they've done nothing to earn them.
We seem to be living in the age of calumny and derision. TV's talking heads give more coverage to vitriolic despots like Ted Cruz than to saner politicians.
We voters should be more careful in how we grant power with our votes. We deserve responsible law makers. But its up to us to elect them.
