AFCC bestows $28K boost to local arts and culture organizations

Strategic Alliance grants go to 15 Cape Cod recipients

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) on Wednesday awarded 15 Strategic Alliance grants to some of the Cape's top arts and cultural venues and organizations. The awards were announced at a reception at Cape Cod Community Media Center in Dennisport, according to an AFCC release.

According to AFCC, combined, the recipients of the $28,000 award employ more than 400 people, have an aggregate budget of over $13 million and receive more than 620,000 visitors each year.

The individual $1,200 Strategic Alliance Grants will be issued for two years to the following Cape Cod organizations:

  • Academy of Performing Arts, Orleans
  • Children's Discovery Museum of Cape Cod, Mashpee
  • Cape Cod Museum of Art, Dennis
  • Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Brewster
  • Cape Cod Pilgrim Memorial Association, Provincetown
  • Cape Cod Symphony & Conservatory of Music & Arts, Barnstable/Falmouth
  • Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cotuit
  • Cultural Center of Cape Cod, South Yarmouth
  • Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown
  • Harwich Junior Theatre, West Harwich
  • Heritage Museums & Gardens, Sandwich
  • Highfield Hall & Gardens, Falmouth
  • John F. Kennedy Museum, Hyannis
  • Provincetown Arts Association & Museum, Provincetown
  • Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (WHAT), Wellfleet

Over the two years, the recipients may use the grants for general operating funds. Money for these and other AFCC grants are raised at the annual Citizens Bank Pops by the Sea concert in Hyannis and the Cape Cod Five Pops in the Park concert in Orleans. In addition to the Strategic Alliance Grants, smaller awards were given to twenty other cultural organizations.

AFCC grants are awarded twice per year. The next grant cycle is in the fall. Complete grant information including recipient lists is available here.

The Strategic Alliance Grants were awarded during an event at Cape Cod Community Media Center which featured live performances by Cape Cod Conservatory of Music and Arts ballet students, poet Christine Rathburn and singer/songwriter Monica Rizzio.
