Against the Tide event is a tradition for one Centerville family

Annual fundraiser for breast cancer prevention is August 16 in Brewster

To the Editor:

Saturday, August 16th, my family and I are participating in the Against the Tide swim, kayak, walk, and/or run fundraising events at Nickerson State Park in Brewster. Proceeds benefit MBCC, the state’s leading breast cancer organization that seeks to understand the causes of breast cancer in order to find ways to prevent the disease.

These family-friendly, inspirational events bring people together with one goal: breast cancer prevention. Choose 1, 2, or 3 of these exciting activities: competitive and recreational swimming, recreational kayaking, recreational walking, competitive and recreational running. There’s also an Aquathlon “Splash and Dash”, where participants “splash” in the competitive 1-mile swim and immediately “dash” in the competitive 5K or 10K run.

This day has become a family tradition. We can’t wait to spend the day together with such a wonderful group of people. We do this for our mother, Susan Milk, who battled breast cancer for 10 years and we do it for everyone who has been touched by this horrible disease.

Join by registering through MBCC at www.mbcc.org/swim or calling 617-376-6222. If you can’t be there in person, visit our Walking for Gramma donation page, read our story, and donate to a VERY worthy cause.
