Stop Scott Brown?

"Live Free and Die"?
Bad location or wishful thinking? Pat Brooks photo.

NH has a good idea -
Stop Scott Brown

Driving back to the Cape from Maine is always an illuminating experience, especially if you detour along Route 1 in Seabrook, New Hampshire. While checking the passing scenery, my wife this past weekend caught this photo of a giant "Scott Brown for U.S. Senate" sign.

Yes, the former U.S. Senator from Massachusetts moved north to that state where one must "Live Free or Die" after being defeated by Elizabeth Warren in 2012.

But his signage is not much better than his consistency - last Saturday he flipped on the climate change issue - and we wonder whether this photo of his sign is the Granite State's attitude about the former local Massachusetts South Shore resident.

Carpetbagger flip-flops?

The former Bay State resident is the odds-on favorite to win the New Hampshire GOP Sept. 9 primary, but he's changed his tune a lot in the two years since he was our U.S. Senator:

  • Despite voting, while our senator on one of the same reforms, he recently attacked his opponent in NH, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), on her record on immigration.
  • When asked Saturday whether he thought climate change was man-made, Brown replied, "Uh, no", but when running for reelection here two years ago he said, "Yes, yes I do. I absolutely believe that climate change is real and I believe there's a combination between man-made and natural."

It will be interesting to see how New Hampshire voters feel about a "carpetbagger" who flip-flops on key issues like these. Perhaps my wife's photo is the answer. welcomes thoughtful comments and the varied opinions of our readers.
