Yarmouth police to stuff a cruiser with food not felons Saturday

Help fill the Yarmouth Food Pantry's shelves during YPD's 8th biannual food drive

This weekend, Yarmouth police will be stuffing their cruisers with something other than felons. On Saturday, November 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Yarmouth Police Department, in partnership with Yarmouth-Dennis CERT and the Yarmouth Rotary Club, will hold a stuff-a-cruiser to benefit the Yarmouth Food Pantry.

Volunteers from the force and the two organizations will be at three locations in town Saturday morning:

  • Stop and Shop, 55 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth
  • Stop and Shop, 474 Station Ave., South Yarmouth
  • Shaw's, 1120 Route 28, South Yarmouth

They will be collecting non-perishables and other important items to stock the pantry's shelves. The Yarmouth Food Pantry supports more than 400 Yarmouth families, according to a Yarmouth Police release.

The food pantry is in need of cereal, peanut butter and jelly, canned soup, chili and beef stew, canned fruits and vegetables, other canned items including tuna fish, ravioli and baked beans, oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup and instant potatoes.

Cash and checks made payable to the Yarmouth Food Pantry will be used to purchase perishables including eggs, bread and milk.

This is the eight bi-annual food drive, according to police. In addition to Saturday's food drive, donations are welcomed at the Yarmouth Police Station at anytime.

The Yarmouth Food Pantry is at 845 Route 28 in South Yarmouth.
