Summer rental applications available for Truro homeowners

Completed application and registration fee due if you plan on renting your home to summer visitors

The Town of Truro announced last week that the application for summer rental registration is now available. Truro homeowners who wish to rent their homes for the 2015 summer must complete an application and pay a $200 fee, per Chapter II, Section 1 of the town's general bylaws.

The application must be completed by those homeowners who are renting their entire home or a portion of their home for 120 days or less. The completed application and fee should be returned to the Selectmen's Office at the Town Hall. The application must include the square footage of each bedroom. That information is used by the town licensing agent to determine the occupancy of the home.

The $200 fee, which was approved at a recent selectmen's meeting, is used to fund record keeping and to offset beach administration and upkeep.

Once approved, a copy of the certificate bearing the registered number of occupants should be posted in the home. The registration is also forwarded to the beach office, which allows tenants to procure non-resident beach stickers.

The application is available here. See the town bylaws here.
