Antone Terra, 62, of Mashpee, died suddenly early Wednesday morning after suffering a stroke.
Born in Wareham, Antone was the son of the late Rose (Martin) Terra and Antone E. Terra. Graduated from Lawrence High School in Falmouth in 1971, Tony held several jobs before joining the United States Naval Submarine Service in 1979. During his 12 years in the service, he was stationed in New London, Connecticut, and Newport News, Virginia. While serving shore duty, Tony was a Company Commander at Recruit Training Command in Orlando Florida where his company earned the “Red Flag of Excellence.” After leaving the service, he cooked at the Town House Restaurant on Main Street, Falmouth before going to work for the United States Postal Service in Mashpee from which he had recently retired. Antone is survived by his son, Sam Terra of Mashpee, two sisters, Carol Terra of North Carolina and Linda Terra of Maine, his nephew Paul Paiva of North Carolina and all his many friends, some of whom he’s known for over 50 years. Tony who always had a dog at his side, was happiest when he was watching the Patriots with his buddies, fishing, and cooking that fresh catch for family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 4 – 7 PM at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Mashpee. Burial will be private.
