David F. Campbell, 81, of Mashpee, peacefully passed away at Harbor Point Senior Living Community, Centerville, MA on January 15, 2016, with loving family by his side. David was the beloved husband of Patricia Kolber Campbell and the son of the late John and Kathryn Campbell. David graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School in 1951. He served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956, first as an electrician's second mate on the USS Hornet and then as a submariner on the USS Sea Owl SS405. David attended the Lowell Technical Institute, Salem State College and Framingham State College, graduating with a BS and three Masters Degrees in Education. He was a Math and Science teacher, Work Study Coordinator and Guidance Counselor in the Watertown Public Schools from 1967 until his retirement in 1996, and worked after school at UPS as an assistant purchasing Coordinator for over twenty years. David was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by those who loved him.
In addition to his wife Patricia, David is survived by six children; Kathryn Lunderville of Wakefield, Philip Campbell of Leominster, Douglas Campbell of Danvers, Eric and Jackie Campbell of Sterling, Bruce Campbell of Margate, Florida, Susan and Joseph Develis of Boxford, and by ten grandchildren; James, Michael, Richard, Alexander, Matthew, Jonathan, Brooke, Ryan, Daniel and Joshua, and great grandson, Dylan, in addition to many nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by his son Alec and siblings Thomas, Mary, Helen and John (Jack).
A visitation will be held at the Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue (Route 151), Mashpee, on Sunday, January 24 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A celebration of David's life will follow at 3:00 p.m.
